About Sandra Cheal Dance School

Welcome to the Sandra Cheal School of Dancing

Sheila Leach was the founding Principal of Sandra Cheal School of Dancing, which opened in 1972 with 15 pupils.

After many years of teaching, Sheila retired in October 2020, and Sarah Kemp became the new Principal. Sarah’s son Nick Kemp, Claudia Black and Sophie Knights complete the teaching team, and are also all ex-students of the dance school.

We offer exciting classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern/Contemporary and Gymnastic Dance. The classes are designed to suit all levels from Preschool Dance to Adult Tap and provide a fantastic opportunity for your child to learn in a secure and and stimulating environment.  Parents are also welcome to come and watch the classes allowing you to see your child’s progression and sometimes even get involved in the classes.  The classes will improve posture, encourage physical growth and development.  They are also a great way for your children to learn important social skills and discover new ways to interact and communicate with their friends.

All are taught with skill, fun and imagination enabling students to take I.D.T.A. Examinations and to take part in the School Show.  If you would like to see our classes in action and some of the shows we produce you take a look on our Gallery Page.

If you’d like to meet the team you can visit the Teachers Page.
